WATCH: Trump’s Latest Endorsement From KKK Grand Wizard: ‘A Lot Of What He Believes, We Believe’

Donald Trump has another KKK endorsement, because to Trump, KKK endorsements are like Frito-Lay chips: you can’t have just one.

“[B]est fit for the job”

Donald Trump has been endorsed several times by racist groups, including the Daily Stormer — a Neo-Nazi digital rag — and David Duke from the KKK. Trump’s rhetoric, when it’s been coherent, has been aimed at minority populations like Mexicans and Muslims, scapegoating them. This sort of thing is like catnip to American’s racist population, and that’s why they swarm to him.

But through it all, Trump wants you to know he’s the “least racist person” he knows:

Keep that 2015 interview in mind, because according to a bit of reporting by Chris Thomas, anchor for NBC12, Trump has a new supporter: the Grand Imperial Wizard of the Rebel Brigade Knights of the Ku Klux Klan.

“I think Donald Trump would be best for the job,” the Grand Wizard told Thomas when Thomas asked him who was the best fit for the Presidency. “The reason a lot of Klan members like Donald Trump is because a lot of what he believes in, we believe in. We want our country to be safe.”

The Grand Wizard also noted that the Klan wasn’t a “racial” organization anymore so much as they were a “political” organization, and as a consequence of that, the group’s been distributing leaflets throughout central Virginia.

According to the Grand Wizard, Obama’s been a great boon for the KKK:

He has been a very good recruiting tool for this organization. And it’s not because he is black. We are more political than racial.

I want everyone to pay close attention to this sentence because this is how people convince themselves they aren’t racist. It goes right back to Lee Atwater’s famous quote about abstracting racial slurs out of existence while still holding to views that are racist as hell.

That’s not the only unorthodox view this particular Grand Wizard holds, though — when asked about burning crosses, the Wizard said:

It put fear in people for years. The lighting of the cross symbolizes that through God’s light there is no darkness in this earth. That’s the light of God.

That’s a creative interpretation. It’s a wrong one. But it’s creative spin all the same.

Perhaps hewing more closely to tradition, he revealed he doesn’t like socialists — and, as a consequence, he dislikes “punk thug” Dylan Roof:

He was a Nazi Skin-Head. Neo-Nazis and Skin Heads are socialist. We are not socialist.

The Grand Wizard also isn’t voting for Cruz, though. Why?

“[Ted Cruz] is not an American citizen. Even if I agree with some of the things that Ted Cruz says, I would not support him because he was born in Canada. He is not an American citizen.”
