Ivette Ivens is a photographer from Chicago. Recently she noticed the attachment between her eight-month-old son, Dilan, and the family’s French Bulldog puppy, Farley, which happened to be born on the same day as Dilan. Since Ivens specializes in photographing mothers and children, it was only natural that she decided to record the bond between her son and the dog. The result is a series of photographs that will melt your heart.
Ivens tells the UK’s Daily Mirror that Dilan and Farley are inseparable.
Farley is always around us, and he follows Dilan everywhere.
He patiently plays with him and tries not to snore while they both nap. It’s honestly the most loving connection – pure, unconditional, irreplaceable and inseparable.
I’m pretty sure Dilan thinks they’re both the same species, as they walk at the same level and are both going through the stage of chewing on everything.
Farley is apparently a big help to Ivens, when it comes to taking care of Dilan. She says the puppy helps clean up the inevitable mess that is left behind after Dilan eats, and when he cries, Farley licks his neck until he starts laughing.
Some people are uncomfortable with having dogs around babies. But French Bulldogs are known for their affectionate nature, and the bond between Dilan and Farley will likely last for the dog’s entire life. A few months ago, a story about the bond between a baby and a member of a breed with a less than stellar reputation, the American Pit Bull Terrier, went viral, proving that dogs, like people, have to be judged as individuals, not members of a group.
Here is a video showing a little of the connection between Dilan and Farley. You can see more photos of the two, plus other work by Ivette Ivens, on her Facebook page.
