The State Of Our Union: Idiocracy Writer Says He ‘Never Expected Movie To Become A Documentary’ (TWEETS)

Etan Cohen, the Harvard-educated  writer of Idiocracy, a time-travel satire about a future in which literally everyone is an idiot (even the president) took to Twitter to express frustration at the current state of our union:

The film, which was co-written by Mike Judge (Beavis and Butt-head),  depicts a futuristic world in which people have been bred stupid from the point of view of an accidental time-traveller who was selected for a government experiment because he was completely average in every way. When he wakes in the future, he is no longer average, but now a super-genius who has to save the world from a food shortage in an everyone is croc-wearing, monster truck/colosseum rehabilitation center having, just plain dumb future.

If you have ever seen the film, in which President Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho (played by Terry Crews) fires an automatic machine gun to get Congress’ attention, after riding a giant trike-style motorcycle with a beer cooler down the street — flying a double middle finger salute — in his presidential parade: you probably have been seeing Trump’s sneering spray tanned mug in the place of Crew’s for a while now.

The biggest difference between Trump and Camacho? President Camacho was not a racist, Islamophobic, hateful, xenophobic, lowest common denominator seeking, narcissist stumping for a white/Christian supremacist nation surrounded by the Great Wall of ‘Murica. Camacho was just a kinda dumb product of his times — and he sought out the smartest man in the world (who didn’t even brandish a firearm to get attention) to solve their problems.

You aren’t alone, not at all, even Crews got into the action with a little in-character “Chill the F* Out ‘Merica,” tweeting himself:
