Depending on who you speak to, Rachel Dolezal is either stealing black culture while benefitting from white privilege or she’s misguided and from an abusive family, but no matter how you feel about the woman who’s been living in black face (and hair) you have to agree that her level of self-awareness is astoundingly low.
When asked whether she was black, Dolezal said she didn’t understand the question. Her actions would almost make me believe that she doesn’t understand the question if it weren’t for the fact that she sued Howard University for discriminating against her – because she’s white.
The latest, though, in her stream of bizarre behavior is that in a radio interview, she advocated for a boycott of the movie Exodus: Gods and Kings. The reason? There were white people playing black roles. Even typing that made my eyes throb.
“Hopefully nobody goes to that film. We need to boycott that film, from my perspective, because it’s miseducation, it’s misrepresentation, it’s highly offensive to the people that actually were living during that time and also to people today.”
“It’s robbing and shredding ancestry and history. . . . It’s really disturbing that this is something that’s still perpetrated,” she continued.

The more I learn about Dolezal, the more I realize that yes, she does need help, but her complete hypocrisy is giving me a migraine and there’s no excuse for that.
