For a seventh year in a row, the President and First Lady had the gates of the White house opened to trick or treaters from local and military families Friday. The event, which comes complete with a festively decorated historical mansion and some pretty amazing costumes, shows a side of the President and his family that Americans can relate with.
The Obamas, as first families go, own the Halloween tradition at the White House. Other Presidents have decorated and made appearances with kids at little parties, but nobody has come close to what the Obamas do for local kids. Part of the appeal of this first family is how easily it is to relate to them.
With music in the background ranging from “Casper the Friendly Ghost” to “Voodoo Child,” you can tell by the sheer look of joy on the President and First Lady’s faces that they are genuinely enjoying themselves.
