A racist rant caught on video has led to a South Carolina woman’s arrest — but not just because of the hate she spewed. Tara Lynn Belcher of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina was captured on film calling an African-American man a “n*gger” and spitting on him — then following up with an all-out assault.
At Black Bike Week, Belcher got into an altercation with a black man. After calling him a n*gger, another darker-skinned individual turned on his camera and demanded to know why Belcher called him a “n*gger.”
“Because he’s a n*gger,” Belcher responded. “He’s a filthy f*cking n*gger.” She explained that the slur was not intended for all people of color — just the person at whom she, as a “not-racist,” directed it. “I called him a n*gger for acting like a f*cking n*gger.”
“So you call people n*ggers if you get mad,” the cameraman asked.
“I do,” Tara replied. “I call people n*ggers if they act like n*ggers.”
Belcher then proved her point by calling the cameraman — who had done nothing besides film her and calmly ask questions — a “n*gger.” Then she spat on him, leading the cameraman to slap the phone out of her hand.
After this, Tara proceeded to further assault the cameraman — but that’s not what she told police when they caught up to her.
According to law enforcement, Belcher said she had just been fired from her job for arguing with customers and (gasp!) using racial slurs, like the ones she hurled indiscriminately at two African-American men in a matter of minutes.
According to MyHorryNews:
The woman told police she walked to the Aqua Beach Resort to wait for a cab when a black male started recording her with his phone.
The woman told police the man spit on her, and then punched her. She said he then kicked her while she was on the ground, and stole her cell phone, the report said.
When police found the man who filmed the encounter, he said that he was indeed recording her with the intention of posting the video to social media. He also told them that she spat in his face and pulled his dreadlocks.
Police watched the video, which confirmed the man’s version of events. Belcher’s cell phone was not found in his possession.
Belcher was arrested and charged with assault and battery, third degree, possession of marijuana — though she must not have smoked any, given her high-strung demeanor. She remains free on $1,401 bond, according to court records.
