It seems everyone but me watched the 87th Academy Awards last night. I stewed in my disappointment that Bob’s Burgers and Shameless weren’t being shown.
One performance that I am absolutely sorry I missed, but am forever grateful to YouTube for, was Lady Gaga’s The Sound of Music tribute.
I’ve always been a Lady Gaga fan but, for those that wrote off Gaga in the days of “Just Dance” or “Telephone,” last night’s performance was even more shocking than her performance of “Cheek to Cheek” with Tony Bennett on the 57th Grammy Awards.
Lady Gaga sang a nearly flawless medley of four songs from the 50-year-old soundtrack including “The Sound of Music,” “My Favorite Things,” “Edelweiss,” and “Climb Ev’ry Mountain” accompanied by a string section.
Rolling Stone readers were also impressed, some even noting a newfound respect for the singer/songwriter.
