A young woman was shopping in the electronics department at a Walmart in Hayden, Idaho with her 2-year old son, and three other children, when an unthinkably tragic accident occurred. At about 10:30am the 2-year-old reached into his mother’s purse when she wasn’t looking and shot her dead.
All the details are yet to be fully released, but the Walmart will remain closed until at least tomorrow.
The spokesman for the sheriff in Kootenai County, a politically conservative area, said that the young woman’s family had come to the area to visit and that she did have a concealed weapons permit.
No footage has been released at this time, but Miller stated:
The young boy was left in the shopping cart, and reached into the victim’s purse, grabbing a small caliber handgun. The boy only shot his mother once.
One bullet is all it took.
She was shopping with her children alone at the time. Her husband arrived at the scene shortly after the incident.
Walmart spokesperson Brooke Buchanan had this to say in a statement :
A very sad and tragic incident happened in our Hayden store involving a female customer, and we’re working with the local sheriff’s department while they investigate what happened.
Several questions remain to be answered about the horrific incident, but it will surely spark even more debate about gun control in this country.
Once further details are confirmed, the story will be updated.
