Unfortunately, we’ve become all too familiar with stories about police brutality towards black Americans. To be clear, I’m not referring to the media’s attention to this important matter, but the fact that it just keeps f$^*ing happening at all. Many of us are also tired of all the horrible, conservative, racist responses to these events. We decided to compile a small list of these responses from just the past 7 months.
Without further ado, here are 11 despicable conservative responses to police abuse in 2015.
Earlier In July, Sandra Bland mysteriously died in police custody after a traffic stop for failure to signal. We begin this list with a response to her death via Al Jazeera:
1. “… but if a Negro dies in police custody….”
Followed by a response to a protest against the DPS trooper who arrested and allegedly assaulted Sandra Bland via local ABC Houston:
In June, a McKinney pool party ended horribly when police body slammed a 14-year-old girl in a bikini. Included are some Twitter responses via If You Only News:
3. “Everyone knows n$##ers can’t swim”
4. “Don’t act like animals…”
Also in July, Samuel Dubose, who was unarmed, was shot by police after being stopped for a minor traffic infraction. Response via If You Only News:
5. “… you libturds equate “unarmed” with “innocent” …”
In yet another July story, Jonathan Sanders, was killed by Mississippi police while out exercising his horse. Events are highly disputed, and being investigated by the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation with assistance from the FBI. Response via the Associated Press:
Earlier this week, #BlackLivesMatter activists were liberally pepper sprayed when protesting police allegedly body slamming a 14-year-old who was arrested for either not having a bus ticket or being intoxicated with an open container, depending on which source you believe. Response via Cleveland CBS:
7. “When monkeys descend on police….”
As might be expected, when a conservative “news” blog posted a version of this story on their Facebook page , racist conservatives were quick to get nasty. The “reasonable” conservative’s response to this to this post:
8. Black activists and pepper spray are like eggs and ham
9. “these animals don’t belong…”
10. “IQ matters more”
America, we have a long, long way to go. The first step, as always, is to acknowledge the problem. Examine your own responses to these news stories, and ask yourself if you are part of the problem or solution. If you are as sick and disgusted by the rampant racism as I am, or if you strongly disagree and think it is justified, feel free to sound off in the comments.
