Ever since that bowl-haircut, racist freak viciously shot and murdered members of a famed black church in South Carolina, a great deal of attention has been devoted to the irrelevancy of the Confederate flag. Well, there’s also the irrelevancy of the Republican Party taking the White House, but that’s a whole other story.
It all began with a very heated to public campaign to get South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley to remove the Confederate flag from the State Capitol and government buildings. After all, the Confederate flag is not a part of American history and, in fact, was and IS a soft form of sedition. It has as much place in a government building as a cross (or a Bush), though the First Amendment does guarantee sh*tkickers the right to fly it in their own backyards.
Well, the campaign paid off as Gov. Haley ordered that the flag be removed from the S.C. Capitol Building, which has now resulted in a flurry of major companies (Even Wal-Mart for f*ck’s sake!) to stop selling it as merchandise. (You still have your snake flags.)
Well, one seemingly self-loathing black man and University of South Carolina college student absolutely refused to take down the flag, much to the chagrin of his parents. Oddly enough, he claims that the flag is simply “southern pride.” We all know that the flag never had anything to do with southern rights and state autonomy; it was all about the right to continue slavery. Notwithstanding, the University of South Carolina student actually won the right to keep displaying his flag in his dorm room.
