Trump campaign manager turned transition team aide Kellyanne Conway is apparently in hot water with her boss after she made the rounds on the Sunday shows in an apparent attempt to force Trump to dump 2012 GOP nominee and former Massachusetts governor Mitt Ronmey as a frontrunner to become Secretary of State. Infighting has characterized Trump’s chaotic rise to the White House, so this should come as no surprise, really.
MSNBC’s Morning Joe reported that Conway’s antics have Trump, quote, “furious.” Trump’s other aides report being “baffled” by Conway’s forceful public remarks regarding Romney, and one aide described her actions as “dangerous,” and said that people close to Trump fear that Conway is “pushing her own agenda.”
As if that weren’t bad enough, RNC Chairman and future Trump Chief of Staff Reince Priebus, along with Trump’s white nationalist future Chief Strategist Steve Bannon are becoming more and more impatient with Conway’s apparent refusal to fall in line.
During an appearance on CNN’s State of the Union, Conway told host Dana Bash that many Trump supporters are feeling “betrayed” that Romney is an apparent serious consideration to become America’s top diplomat in a Trump Administration due to Romney’s heavy public criticism of Trump during the campaign. She went on to say:
“I’m all for party unity, but I’m not sure we have to pay for that with the secretary of State position.”
While it is obvious to any sane person that Trump needs someone who is more cool headed – like, say a Mitt Romney – to be Secretary of State, it’s also obvious that sanity is rarely what characterizes the workings within the inner circle of Team Trump. We can only hope that he doesn’t go completely off the rails and pick someone like that lunatic Rudy Giuliani to represent America to the rest of the world. The last thing we need is another globe trotting crazy person further destroying us. Goodness knows, we’ve got more than enough of that with Trump himself.
