Oklahoma GOP Declares Every Uterus A Potential Crime Scene By Pushing New Law

The Oklahoma Republican party has lost it’s freakin’ mind. Senate Bill 1118, proposed and written by a Republican man (no surprise there) named Joseph Silk, will classify any end, as a result of human action, to the development and live birth of a fertilized human egg as first-degree murder.

This is not an exaggeration. The bill literally spells it out like this.

F. A person commits murder in the first degree when that person performs an abortion as defined by Section 1-745.5 of Title 63 of the Oklahoma Statutes. SECTION 2. AMENDATORY 63 O.S. 2011, Section 1-745.5, is amended to read as follows: Section 1-745.5. A.

“Abortion” means the use or prescription of any instrument, medicine, drug or any other substance or device to intentionally kill an unborn human being; 2. “Unborn human being” means the offspring of human beings from the moment of conception until either live birth or death, including the human conceptus, zygote, morula, blastocyst, embryo and fetus, whether conceived or located inside or outside the body of a human female; and 3. “Conception” means the fertilization of the ovum of a female individual by the sperm of a male individual.

Literally anything that causes the expiration of anything between a fertilized egg to a fully delivered live fetus will now be considered capital murder.

This includes miscarriages and even in-vitro fertilization. It can’t be understated the kind of criminal implications this can carry against women.

An argument can be made in every case that something could have caused a fertilized egg not to implant and grow to a viable delivery. As a result, a criminal investigation could be legally justified for any woman any time she has a period while being sexually active. Birth defects detected could result in state-imposed tests for drugs, drinking, or even nicotine. Spontaneous miscarriages would result in murder investigations. To put it into context, if a pregnant woman would slip and fall and have a problem with her pregnancy as a result, she’d have to prove that she didn’t do it to commit pre-meditated murder.

This is Republican “small government” at work.
