Congressman Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) is a very thirsty boy. He’s so desperate for attention that he decided it would be cool to post an Instagram post with a picture of him shaking hands with Secretary Hillary Clinton at President Donald Trump’s inauguration. The picture itself was benign enough, but the caption he used under it drew fire from both sides of the aisle.
He wrote: “So pleased she is not the President. I thanked her for her service and wished her luck. The investigation continues.”
Before the election, when Clinton was believed to be a sure bet to win the presidency, Chaffetz vowed to continue investigating the email server scandal despite the fact that the Federal Bureau of Investigations found no criminal wrongdoing on Clinton’s part. But Chaffetz, who has never been a trained law enforcement agent, journalist, or investigator, decided that he knew better than those amateurs at the FBI. He says that he just knows something is rotten about Clinton and if his pursuit of “the truth” happens to score him political points with Republicans, thereby giving him the national profile needed to run for president one day, well that’s just a happy bonus.
Following the election, Chaffetz stated that it was his patriotic “duty” to continue to hunt Hillary Clinton.
“It would be totally remiss of us to dismiss [the email investigation] because she’s not going to be president,” Chaffetz said of the defeated Democratic nominee.
“I still have a duty and obligation to get to the truth about one of the largest breaches of security at the State Department,” he said. “Tens of thousands of documents still have not been turned over to Congress.”
This guy is among the lowest of cowards, who needs to hide behind something before he says what he truly thinks. Hopefully, this stunt, as well as his other transparent acts of cowardice, will haunt Chaffetz throughout his mediocre political career.
And when this tool decides to run for president, let’s hope both Democrats and Republicans will enjoy ruthlessly mocking this feckless slimeball until he fades into well-deserved political obscurity.
Chaffetz is clearly a man in search of his version of “truth,” no matter how long or how much taxpayer money it will take to never find it.
