Just days after giving a speech to remember in Wisconsin, former half-term governor Sarah Palin posted a hunting picture on Facebook. Now, this wouldn’t be anything unusual — conservatives tend to pride themselves in their ability to gun down defenseless animals with high-powered rifles — but it came with a note.
A note that encouraged Wisconsin GOP voters to turn out in support for none other than Donald Trump.
Because I know that when I think of Donald Trump, the first thing that springs to mind is a dead pig.
In her Sunday Facebook post, Palin encouraged Americans to vote for the Teflon Don, saying . . . well, I mean, it’s Palin. She begins with an imperative, “On Wisconsin!” What is on Wisconsin? Who knows or dares to dream:
Faith of America is in you to take us forward on Tuesday; to remain strong and independent of the status quo political establishment so your vote will truly represent your optimistic spirit and desire to WORK! Hardworking Wisconsinites deserve much better than a repeat of the establishment’s agenda that led to losing this great state to Obama in 2012 – by 200,000 votes!
The things this woman does to the English language are just terrible to behold.
She continued, raving about “the continued games of the permanent political class” and how Americans should “vote for the first candidate since Reagan who is growing the Commonsense Conservative movement.” This continued for another three paragraphs:
The continued games of the permanent political class will assure a Hillary victory unless you tell them “ENOUGH!” and vote for bold, new leadership that puts your interests before party politics. Vote for your jobs and security. Vote for the first candidate since Reagan who is growing the Commonsense Conservative movement… the only one who’s created middle class jobs… the only one not living off your tax dollars… the only one Wisconsin can count on to steer us away from the rocky shoals ahead.
Vote for Donald Trump on Tuesday to make America great again.
This is the message shared with diverse Wisconsin voters this weekend, including those of you I’m thrilled to see today at “Zingers and Flingers” Gun Range in Wausau today at 12:30. See you there!
I bet Palin — and half the people who use the phrase — couldn’t describe what “common sense” means, beyond “shut up and agree with me.” This is the peril of using thought terminating cliches — one’s thought ends up terminated. And Palin is a perfect example of that.
