Robert De Niro Eviscerates Trump So Badly In Election PSA That They Had To Pull It (VIDEO)

Actor and director Robert De Niro was asked to give his take on the US presidential election, and on Republican nominee Donald Trump in particular, as part of a Get Out The Vote ad campaign. Like most voting PSA’s, the message was meant to be a way to inform potential voters about the importance of voting. De Niro wasn’t content to settle for a vanilla message. He went way off script.

His contribution to the #VoteYourFuture campaign was so beautifully scathing and acerbic that the video creators found it too partisan to be included in the final cut. But here it is in all its glory.

Well, De Niro just went full blown Jimmy Conway and Jake Lamotta in 60 seconds.

“I mean he’s so blatantly stupid. He’s a punk, he’s a dog, he’s a pig, he’s a con, a bullshit artist, a mutt who doesn’t know what he’s talking about, doesn’t do his homework, doesn’t care, thinks he’s gaming society, doesn’t pay his taxes. He’s an idiot. Colin Powell said it best: He’s a national disaster. He’s an embarrassment to this country. It makes me so angry that this country has gotten to this point that this fool, this bozo, has wound up where he has. He talks how he wants to punch people in the face? Well, I’d like to punch him in the face. This is somebody that we want for president? I don’t think so. What I care about is the direction of this country, and what I’m very, very worried about is that it might go in the wrong direction with someone like Donald Trump. If you care about your future, vote for it.”

The renowned actor is no stranger to expressing his opinions on Donald Trump. De Niro, although usually reserved, has been relentless in his take-downs of Trump. For example, he previously compared Trump  to one of cinema’s greatest unstable characters – Taxi Driver‘s Travis Bickle – during a screening of that 1976 Marty Scorsese classic at the Sarajevo Film Festival in August.

“One of the things to me was just the irony at the end, [Bickle] is back driving a cab, celebrated, which is kind of relevant in some way today too,” De Niro said. “I don’t know, it’s crazy that people like Donald Trump. He shouldn’t even be where he is, so God help us.”

Kudos to this amazing actor for eschewing typical Hollywood phoniness and taking on Trump in a full-throated fashion.
