Republican frontrunner Donald Trump is used to the media catering to him, especially the right-wing media. So it must have been a big surprise when he did an interview with Wisconsin radio host Charlie Sykes and had his ass handed to him.
Sykes hammered Trump about all of his unpresidential behavior, but it got really nasty when it came to his continued fighting with Ted Cruz. Trump and Cruz have been at each other’s throats for weeks, but it got really personal last week when the billionaire went after Cruz’s wife. The frontrunner retweeted an unattractive photo of Heidi Cruz next to a photo of his own supermodel wife with the caption,”A picture is worth a thousand words.”
The radio host asked if Trump was going to issue an apology for the photo:
Because you know what, most real men, when they screw up they’ll go, ‘You know what, I was a hothead, I shouldn’t have done that.’
Trump responded like he always does by whining that Cruz attacked him first. But Sykes pointed out that he didn’t, it was a super PAC. After a little bit more back and forth, the radio host went in for the kill:
Sykes: “Do you want some free advice, seriously? Since you’re now here in Wisconsin, honestly — if you stand up there and you say, ‘Folks, let me just say this. I’m running for president, Ted Cruz is running for president. Let’s leave our wives out of it. Both of us have married intelligent, beautiful women, and from now on we are not going to be talking about one another’s wives. People in Wisconsin will love that, Mr. Trump.”
Trump: “I don’t mind that at all. I think it’s great, I think that’s fine. Who wouldn’t agree to that? I think it’s great. Again, I didn’t start it — he started it. If he didn’t started it, it would’ve never happened. Nothing like this would’ve ever happened. But he started it. But what you just said is fine with me.”
Sykes: “Remember, we’re not on a playground — we’re running for President of the United States.
The billionaire loudmouth has run his entire campaign this way and his supporters allow him to get away with it because they are bullies just like him. It is embarrassing to watch a grown ass man sink so low — let alone a man who wants to run this country.
