Jon Stewart Comes Out Of Retirement To Blast GOP For Blocking 9/11 First Responders Bill

Jon Stewart is back in the spotlight after heading to Capitol Hill, and man did he let Congress have it!

In true Stewart spirit, he blasted Congress for failing to renew the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Reauthorization Act, which provides much needed medical care for the brave men and women who sacrificed everything during the worst terrorist attack in American history. Stewart referred to Cogress’ failure pass this as “stupid and embarrassing.”

I think it’s safe to say that many would agree with Stewart’s comments:

This is insane. We have a bunch of first responders outside freezing their asses off. Our country’s last responders, our country’s worst responders, are inside nice and comfy and cozy, and probably having soup…The man has literally sponsored and touted the exact same bill for energy workers. I honestly just wish I could understand the rationale. That bill cost twice as much what they’re asking for these guys. How in good conscience can you deny them the very thing that you have proudly brought to the people of your state? Please, personally ask him that.feels the brave men and women who worked ground zero don’t?

McConnell is specifically being targeted by Stewart because he had no problem sponsoring a healthcare bill for nuclear energy workers that has cost eleven billion, but somehow felt it was necessary to vote against a health care bill  that would allow the first responders of 9/11 appropriate medical care.

As usual, Stewart is spot on. McConnell, like many politicians, are only looking out for themselves and anything that does not expand their wallets is simply not a priority. This is absolute bullshit! These first responders deserve so much more than we could ever give them and he wants to deny them health care? The Republican Party has proven time and time again that they don’t care about the American people, so how can we expect them to do what’s best for this country?
