It Worked: Trump Goes Ballistic On Meryl Streep In UNHINGED Early Morning Rant (TWEETS)

Meryl Streep is Hollywood royalty. She’s widely respected around the nation and world, and has been for decades. Therefore, it is unwise to attack her. Then again, no one ever accused Donald Trump of being wise. Ever so thin-skinned, Trump spent his Monday morning attacking the actress on Twitter instead of getting ready to take office. The tweets flowed forth from the short-fingered vulgarian thusly:

This all comes after Streep’s impassioned speech at the 2017 Golden Globes, where Streep used her time on stage to rip into Donald Trump’s lack of decency on the campaign trail – specifically his disgraceful and clear mockery of a disabled New York Times reporter, Serge Kovaleski.

With regards to this Twitter attack, here is the relevant part of what Streep had to say Sunday night, via The Hill:

“There was one performance this year that stunned me. It sank its hooks in my heart. Not because it was good — there was nothing good about it — but it was effective and did its job. It made its intended audience laugh and show their teeth.”

“It was that moment, when the person asking to sit in the most respected seat in our country imitated a disabled reporter — someone he out-ranked in privilege, power, and the capacity to fight back. It kind of broke my heart when I saw it, and I still can’t get it out of my head because it wasn’t in a movie; it was in real life.”

Meryl Streep is correct. What Trump did to Kovaleski is truly beyond the pale. He sent a message that it is somehow okay to mock those more vulnerable than we are, to use platforms of power to humiliate and denigrate those who don’t have a voice at the same level. In other words, Trump sent the worst message imaginable.

As for Trump – part of being a public servant is facing criticism, and goodness knows there is plenty to criticize here. He’d better get used to it, lest his head explode sometime within the next four years.
