Given a chance to speak to income inequality, Mike Huckabee chose, instead, to give a rambling answer about government. referencing the runaway blimp that was in the news today, Huckabee went all analogy-ish:
If you saw that blimp that got loose from Maryland today… it’s a perfect example of government… what we had was something the government made, basically a bag of gas… that cut loose, destroyed everything in its path… but they couldn’t get rid of it because we have too much invested in it, so we had to keep it. That is our government today.
He went on to actually address the question, saying that when the bottom 90 percent of Americans’ wages have been stagnant for the past 40 years, somebody is “taking it in the teeth.” That would be us.
But what Huckabee fails to mention is that the reason wages have been stagnant for 40 years is because of trickle-down economics. That would be your guy Reagan’s biggest economic policy. It doesn’t work, It never has. Except for the rich, which was the plan all along.
Told that he was out of time, Huckabee pulled a Jim Webb and demanded more time. In that time, he said that curing the “big diseases” would fix the inequality. Curing diabetes, cancer, Alzheimer’s and other major diseases would fix the economy? That’s just bizarre. How about not charging people so much for medical care? That, on the other hand, might help the economy.
