Kristina Arriaga, Trump supporter and supposed religious liberty advocate, is calling for Obama to send U.S. Surgeon General Vivek H. Murthy to Cuba. Why? To make sure Fidel Castro, the 90-year old dictator, is really dead.
After the news spread like wild fire that Castro had died, the Republicans in Congress and members of Trump transition team members were quick to jump on President Obama for his diplomatic response to the dictator’s death.
They preferred Trump’s very undiplomatic one:
Fidel Castro is dead!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 26, 2016
Now they are urging Obama to skip the funeral of the longtime Cuban President and to send no official representative from the United States.
Newt Gingrich, a Trump adviser, tweeted:
Under no circumstance should President Obama or VP Biden or Secstate Kerry go to Cuba for Castro's funeral. He was a tyrant.

Republican Senator Marco Rubio followed suit:
#FidelCastro "created repressive state where his secret police & pro-government mobs attacked those who dared to call for democratic change"
— Marco Rubio (@marcorubio) November 26, 2016
In another tweet, Rubio urged, “I would hope that [the administration] would send no one to the funeral.”
Discussion aside of whether or not “tyrant” and “dictator” will soon be used to describe the way in which President-elect Trump will lead, the sentiment is clear: Republicans believe that no US official, including President Obama, should be sent to Castro’s funeral.
Fox News pundit, Kristina Arriaga, Executive Director of the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, disagrees.
During her Sunday appearance on Fox, Arriaga suggested,
“sending a high level dignitary would be honoring the man who has executed, tortured, incarcerated a larger percentage of the population than Stalin did.”
However… and this is a big however…
“we Cuban-Americans believe in trust but verify. If I were the president, I might consider sending the surgeon general — just to make sure Fidel Castro is really dead.”
For conservatives, everything is a “false flag.”
