Former GOP Gov. Promises To Vote For Clinton If Trump Is The Nominee

While Chris Christie, the spineless bully who is currently governor of New Jersey, endorses the even more spineless Donald Trump, New Jersey’s former Republican governor Christie Whitman promises to vote Hillary Clinton should the billionaire mogul nab the nomination.

Disregard our earlier claim that no prominent Republican has vowed to vote for Clinton if Trump won the nomination. Congratulations, Governor Whitman, you’re the first one. In an interview with the Star Ledger newspaper, Whitman assailed the frontrunner as a racist and a hate monger, and slammed Chris Christie for being a sellout:

I am ashamed that Christie would endorse anyone who has employed the kind of hate mongering and racism that Trump has. I would have thought being from a diverse state would have given him more awareness and compassion.

Although she says Hillary has her vote should Trump win, the moderate Republican officially endorsed governor John Kasich, whose dismal polling going into Super Tuesday will almost certainly spell doom for his campaign. As the Republican “establishment” (or, as we like to call them, people with any shred of dignity left) tries desperately to tear down the prospects of a Trump presidency, Whitman says many Republicans will follow her lead and vote for Clinton:

You’ll see a lot of Republicans do that. We don’t want to. But I know I won’t vote for Trump.

Whitman said her “support” for Clinton is not set in stone, in case Clinton becomes bogged down with any legal or ethical issues. However, as of right now, Clinton looks like she’ll pick up an endorsement from a former governor who happens to be a Republican.

Whitman was governor of New Jersey from 1994 to 2001, and served as the administrator for the EPA from 2001 to 2003 under George W. Bush. In 2001, she helped t spearhead a study on the effects of climate change and how it would devastate each state, but it was ignored by President Bush, who called it “the bureaucracy.” She describes herself as a “radical centrist” and supports abortion rights, same-sex marriage, and is progressive on environmental issues, and accepts man’s hand in climate change.
