#NeverTrump GOP Delegates Promise Convention Mayhem

It seems that Paul Ryan, Reince Priebus, and the rest of the GOP establishment who are pushing everyone to line up behind Trump whether they want to or not will have quite the fight on their hands at the GOP convention in Cleveland, Ohio this week. While it seems that the push to unbind the delegates so that they can vote their conscience instead of being forced to vote for the candidate they are bound to has been defeated, the #NeverTrump folks still have a few tricks up their sleeves. Trump’s nomination seems inevitable, but those delegates aren’t going down without, at the very least, humiliating Trump and the party brass while the whole world watches.

Kendal Unruh, a main delegate leader of the #NeverTrump movement, says that the party brass never intended to give their cause a voice:

To sound like Donald Trump — they rigged it. The very thing they scream about is the very thing they did. I want to make this point extraordinarily clear: What a bunch of liars they revealed themselves to be.

A delegate from Louisiana says that the #NeverTrump faction plans to use different technicalities and procedural tactics to slow the convention and nominating process to a crawl. Still, other delegates will try to make sure that there is a roll call vote on the convention floor so that Trump’s coronation becomes one big, humiliating event rather than the congratulatory, joyous occasion it should be for him. So, at the very least, the idea that the convention is united behind Trump is down the toilet before it ever even gets rolling.

The #NeverTrump delegates are understandably angry at the GOP establishment, as their standard-bearer is unacceptable not only to them but to the nation at large. He is unqualified to hold the office he seeks, and anyone with a brain – including the GOP brass – knows this. They are putting party before country, which is something that means that none of them are fit to hold elected office.

Give ’em hell, #NeverTrump delegates.
