When Pope Francis came to America, he had a message: accept the refugees with open arms, and treat others the way you would want to be treated.
I guess Donald Trump didn’t get the memo.
Instead, the dunce whose tax plan would cost the U.S. $12 trillion said, if elected, he’d send the refugees back to war-torn Syria where many of them would meet a certain death.
Speaking to reporters, the Republican front-runner said:
Now I hear we want to take in 200,000 Syrians [it’s actually 100,000], right? They could be, listen, they could be ISIS, I don’t know. Have you ever seen a migration like that? And I’ll tell you right now and I’m putting everyone at notice and hopefully this gets outside of the room and I guess it will with all these crazy cameras: I’m putting the people on notice who are coming here from Syria as part of this mass migration, that if I win, if I win, they’re going back. They’re going back. I’m tellin’ you. They’re going back.
The most disturbing part is the round of applause given Trump after he expressed such cold-hearted callousness.
While Democratic candidates Martin O’Malley, Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders have called on the White House to accept more refugees, the Republicans have been icy and outright hostile to the plight of these people.
This is why we must not allow Trump to become president.
