Cruz Challenges Trump To One-On-One Debate Since He’s ‘Afraid Of Megyn Kelly’ (AUDIO)

Shortly after Donald Trump announced that he is throwing a hissy fit, and refusing to attend Thursday’s Republican debate because Fox host Megyn Kelly is mean to him, Sen. Ted Cruz challenged the frontrunner to a one on one debate of their own. “Mano a mano.”

During an appearance on the conservative radio host Mark Levin’s show, Cruz said that Trump is disrespecting the voters of Iowa by throwing a temper tantrum and refusing to take part the debate because he couldn’t force the network to bow down to his demands.

Well look, I think every candidate for president owes it to voters, and in particular owes it to the men and women of Iowa, to go and humble yourself, and put yourself before them and answer their hard questions.

Cruz then accused Trump of being “afraid to appear on the debate stage,” a notion that echoes a statement made by Fox News, which said they were “surprised” at the “fear” he was showing.

The fact that Donald is now afraid to appear on the debate stage, that he doesn’t want his record questioned, I think that reflects a lack of respect for the men and women of Iowa. That he’s unwilling to go to Des Moines and be questioned.

Cruz noted that he and Trump are “effectively tied” in Iowa, with voting in the state only six days away. He doubled down on calling Trump a big fat chicken, and issued his challenge to Trump for a one on one debate, even offering to forego any moderators at all if their presence scared the real estate mogul too much.

If Donald is afraid of Megyn Kelly, I would like to invite him on your show to participate in a one on one debate between me and Donald. Mano a mano. Now, we could do it a number of ways. We could have you moderate it, Mark. We could have Sean Hannity moderate it. We could have Rush Limbaugh.

But you know what? If he’s afraid of Megyn Kelly, if he’s afraid of you, and afraid of Hannity, and afraid of Rush, then we could do without any moderators whatsoever. I’m happy to go an hour-and-half, mano a mano, me and Donald with no moderators any time before the Iowa caucuses.
