CNN Host Razes Jeb Bush: You Blame Clinton For Benghazi, But Not Your Brother For 9/11 (VIDEO)

Monumental embarrassment to humanity, Jeb Bush, found himself in a bit of a pickle Sunday morning when he was asked to justify his fervor in blaming Democratic 2016 hopeful Hillary Clinton for (gasp!) Benghazi, while completely exonerating his brother for the attacks on September 1, 2001. Reminded on CNN of his rather embarrassing defense of his brother — one even Trump called “pathetic,” reminding America (as though it was necessary) that the attacks occurred during Bush’s “reign” as president.

It’s difficult to say definitively whether or not Bush was in any way responsible for the 9/11 attacks through sheer negligence, though many would be quite satisfied to see him prosecuted for war crimes because of his actions following 9/11. You know, during the period in which he “kept us safe” according to jeb! by launching two illegal wars, one of which was into a country that had no involvement whatsoever with the September 11 attacks. In any case, Bush’s strangely admirable ability to feel such devotion to his brother that he would pretty much wreck what’s left of his campaign in his defense leads the former Florida Governor to continue in his desire to see “W” vindicated.

“My brother responded to a crisis and united the country, he organized our country and he kept us safe,” Bush explained to Jake Tapper. “And there’s no denying that. And the great majority of Americans believe that. And I don’t know why he keeps bringing this up.” Asked if his unwavering loyalty to his brother “might be in some ways a political or policy liability blinding [jeb!] to mistakes [W] made,” the (perhaps) stupidest member of the Bush family shot back:

It’s what you do after that matters. Does anybody actually blame my brother for the attacks on 9/11? If they do, they’re totally marginalized in our society. It’s what he did afterwards that mattered, and I’m proud of him. And so are a bunch of other people.

“Obviously al Qaeda was responsible for the terrorist attacks of 9/11,” Tapper said, “But how do you respond to critics who ask if your brother and his administration bear no responsibility at all, how do you then make the jump that President Obama and Secretary Clinton are responsible for what happened at Benghazi?” At this point, things became very embarrassing for Bush, who, channeling Sarah Palin, stammered like his mother just caught him fornicating with the couch cushion:

Well, I, it’s, the question on in Benghazi, which is, hopefully will now finally get the truth to is, was the place secure? They had a responsibility, the Department of State to have, uh, proper security. There were calls for security. It looks like they didn’t get it. And how was the response in the aftermath of the attack? Was there a chance that these four American lives could have been saved?

That’s what the investigation is about, it’s not a political issue. It’s not about the broad policy issue is, wre we doing the job of protecting our embassies and our consulates, and during the period, those hours after the attacks started, could they have been saved?

Bush set himself up to get smacked down by Tapper, who noted that his explanation is  “kind of proving the point of the critics.” The CNN host laid it out for Bush…hard:

“You don’t want you brother to bear responsibility for 9/11 — and I understand that argument and al Qaeda is responsible — but why are the terrorists not the ones that are responsible for these attacks in Libya?”

“They are!” Bush stomped. “But if the ambassador was asking for additional security and they didn’t get it, that’s a proper point. And if it’s proven that the security was adequate compared to other embassies, then fine, we’ll move on.”

In 2012, poster child for the Stupid Part of America Jason Chaffetz, who blames Planned Parenthood for killing his parents with cancer, admitted that the GOP had cut funding for embassy security because doing the thing they blame Obama and Clinton for not doing was low-priority. To Jeb and other Republicans, though, President Obama and Hillary Clinton — who two Republicans have admitted is the target of the Benghazi investigations, which amount to nothing more than a witch hunt — will always be to blame for the attack.
