‘Christian’ Nutjob Says There’s A Vast Left-Wing Conspiracy And You Won’t Believe What It’s Called

Gordon Klingenschmitt is one of our favorite pseudo-Christian nutjobs. He has a program called “Pray In Jesus Name,” on which he hosts other pseudo-Christian and right-wing nutjobs. On his most recent show, he hosted Lance Wallnau, a leader of the Dominionist movement. Seven Mountains Dominionism, to be precise. This is a truly frightening movement to turn America into a Christian theocracy, doing “whatever is necessary.” Take a few minutes to check it out. It’s scary.

According to Wallnau, the reason America is moving to the left on most issues is not because we are evolving and growing more aware. Not because we actually care about others and personal dignity and actual freedom. No, everything is a conspiracy set in motion by a secret cabal of left-wing millionaires. How does he know this? Tom DeLay told him. So you just know it has to be true.

Here’s the deal… In the year 2000, these 100 rich lefties put in $1 million each to fund progressive groups like MoveOn.org, Media Matters, the Center for American Progress, Citizens for Ethics and Responsibility in Washington (CREW) and Right Wing Watch. The latter is a subsidiary of People For The American Way which has been around since 1981, when it was founded by Norman Lear and Barbara Jordan, long before this “secret plan” was put into action. But, hey, Tom DeLay isn’t the brightest bulb in the right-wing chandelier of crazy.

These progressive groups had a job to do: pinpoint the weaknesses of the conservative movement and attack them. These single-issue organizations — which aren’t, really, since progressives have a holistic view of society — were “tasked to break down the wall and exploit the weakness.” Wallnau explains:

It’s just sheer genius, in a way, because they call them the most benevolent names possible. Let’s MoveOn.org. Move on from what? Well, move on from values and God into anarchy, but they don’t say that; it’s move on from Bush and his nutty stuff… Now what you think is these are independent organizations that are all kind of beating the drum. What you really have is almost like a military operation of independent organizations funded, started and controlled by a central bank, central budget and central strategy.

This group of nefarious progressive organizations was dubbed “Thunder Road.” No, really. I wonder if Springsteen knows about this… oh, wait! He must be one of the 100 rich leftists! Ah, it all makes sense now.

Conspiracy theorists have a need to explain everything according to their worldview. To them, nothing happens by chance or organically; it must all be planned either by them or by their enemies. Their paranoia turns anyone with a different worldview into their enemy. For a conspiracy nut, everything is said or done with an agenda in mind, either theirs or their enemies’.

We should pity people like Wallnau and Klingenschmitt. They can’t just accept the world and try to enjoy life, helping others as they go. No, they are selfish and self-centered, insecure in their beliefs and bullying. The latter is why it’s hard to feel pity for them. They want everyone to be as paranoid and insecure as they are. That’s why progressives frighten and anger them so much, I suppose. We just don’t roll that way.
