Carly Fiorina Bragged About Her NSA Contract And May Have Revealed State Secrets

In all the spy movies there’s always an idiot you don’t talk to because he’ll brag about what he does, and in so doing, reveals the entire plan to the enemy. Well, in the movie of the GOP Primary, that character is Carly Fiorina and this isn’t a movie, it’s reality and state secrets.

We’ve already established that Fiorina isn’t the best business person, that she can’t be trusted to pay her bills and that she invents her own truth we’ve dubbed #FiorinaFacts. But now it turns out she might have revealed classified information to the public. D’oh!

In an interview with YahooNews, Fiorina revealed that General Michael Hayden needed help from HP to send servers to Fort Meade. “Carly, I need stuff and I need it now,” Hayden reportedly told her. It was part of the NSA’s warrantless wiretapping program code-named “Stellar Wind.”

So, here’s what you need to know about how to operate in a classified environment. It’s fairly cut and dry. Don’t talk about anything. If you do talk about something, call x phone number immediately. If you know that what you’re doing is classified, and you will know, and you reveal it, it is illegal. Period.

18 U.S. Code § 798 – Disclosure of classified information Section A:

Whoever knowingly and willfully communicates, furnishes, transmits, or otherwise makes available to an unauthorized person, or publishes, or uses in any manner prejudicial to the safety or interest of the United States or for the benefit of any foreign government to the detriment of the United States any classified information … Shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both.

The only way she gets out of this is if she can claim she didn’t know something was classified. If you’re the CEO of a corporation with a major government contract and you don’t know if something is classified, you suck as a business person. If you did know it was classified and you talk about it publicly anyway, you’re clearly too untrustworthy to do anything with government, ever.

You’re certainly too untrustworthy to be President of the United States where keeping secrets is kinda important.

MotherBoard’s report cites researcher Paul Dietrich, who “noticed that a document leaked by Edward Snowden … in 2013 contains a possible reference to Fiorina’s assist.”

According to Dietrich, the document was partially declassified last year but not fully. The piece about HP and Carly’s part of it is all blacked out still. It wasn’t part of what was declassified.

Can we just all agree that Carly Fiorina is probably not the best person to have anywhere near government? If she wants to run a corporation she can knock herself out for whoever/whatever wants to hire her. But America is serious business. You can’t just go around saying and doing whatever you want. Even George W. Bush didn’t reveal state secrets, and that’s saying something.
