Steve Bannon is out as Breitbart News’ executive chairman. He and the man in the White House, Donald Trump, had a massive falling out after Michael Wolff’s tell-all book, “Fire And Fury: Inside The Trump White House,” came out, and Bannon’s attempts to furiously backpedal from comments attributed to him have been less-than successful. His delay in speaking out against the book really didn’t help matters any.
The reason Bannon is out is because one of Breitbart’s wealthy supporters, Rebekah Mercer, all but forced him out. Mercer said that she and her father cut ties with Bannon months ago, and that they support Trump and his platform. That support became more pronounced after “Fire and Fury” was published. Trump himself released a ridiculous statement saying that Bannon had nothing to do with his presidency, which we all know is absolute nonsense because Bannon was on the National Security Council for a time.
It took Bannon days to say he regretted the comments in the book, and decided to get down on his knees and kiss boots and grovel before Trump and his namesake son, Donnie Jr. Bannon claimed that his comments weren’t directed at Lil’ Donnie Jr., but rather, at Paul Manafort.
Bannon and Breitbart are allegedly working together on a smooth transition of power, and Bannon claims to be proud of what they’ve accomplished since his return to the far-right wing propaganda machine in August.
