Anti-LGBT Group Denounces Trump, Equates Support Of Same-Sex Marriage To Slavery

A well-known anti-LGBTQ group has endorsed Sen. Ted Cruz for president and denounced Donald Trump for his “support” of same-sex marriage, claiming that it is the equivalent of supporting slavery.

The National Organization for Marriage is supporting Cruz’s bid for the presidency, having decided that the Republican frontrunner simply isn’t bigoted enough for them, if you can believe that. Apparently, Trump should spread some of his hate around to the gays if he wants the support of these guys.

Cruz has vowed to put an end to same-sex marriage while Trump, on the other hand, declared it a “dead issue” after the supreme court ruled that marriage is a fundamental human right.

Brian Brown, NOM’s president wrote lengthy blog post endorsing Cruz and denouncing the real estate mogul for being far too tolerant of the rights of the LGBTQ community. (Insert sarcasm here.)

Donald Trump does not support a constitutional amendment to restore marriage to our laws. Worse, he has publicly abandoned the fight for marriage.”

“When the US Supreme Court issued their illegitimate ruling redefining marriage, Trump promptly threw in the towel with these comments on MSNBC: ‘You have to go with it. The decision’s been made, and that is the law of the land.’”

“Think about the implications of Donald Trump’s comments. By his reasoning, the nation would ‘have to go with’ slavery as ‘the law of the land’ once the Supreme Court issued their illegitimate Dred Scott decision.”

“But the nation didn’t go along with this manifestly immoral, anti-constitutional ruling on slavery.”

“Fortunately, we had a political leader, Abraham Lincoln, who was willing to lead a principled fight for the dignity of every human being, and slavery was eventually repudiated.”

Yes, you read that correctly. This man actually said that supporting two adults who want to marry because they are in love is the same thing as supporting the ownership of another human being. Sounds legit.

Brown then added a final note to his ludicrous statement:

That in a nutshell is the difference between Ted Cruz and Donald Trump when it comes to marriage. Ted Cruz will be a champion for marriage while Donald Trump has abandoned the fight.”

I have to hand it to this guy. This is the first even remotely decent reason to vote for the narcissistic hatemonger that I have heard yet. Congratulations Mr. Brown.
