9/11 Widow Rips Condi Rice A New One In A Blistering OP-ED: ‘Please Stop Lying’

Kristen Breitweiser, one of the “Jersey Girls” who lost their husbands in 9/11 and successfully lobbied the U.S. government to launch a formal investigation into the attacks, recently penned an op-ed in the Huffington Post ripping former National Security Adviser and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice for lying to the American people.

Rice, who was being interviewed by the Huffington Post earlier in October, responded to Donald Trump’s claim that President Bush was responsible for the 9/11 attacks happening on his watch. Rice defended the former president, saying that if anyone should “plead guilty” it would be her because she never imagined the terrorists would use commercial flights as weapons:

Yes, maybe there was a lack of imagination to imagine a group of terrorists were going to hijack airplanes and not drive them to the ground and demand a ransom, but use them as missiles against our cities. I plead guilty to a lack of imagining exactly that…The idea the president of the United States was warned that Al-Qaeda was going to attack the United States and did nothing about it. Really? Do you think any president of the United States, if he had even an inkling there was going to be an attack, they wouldn’t have moved heaven and earth to try to stop it?

That didn’t sit well with Breitweiser, who titled her op-ed “Condi Rice: Here’s Your 9/11 Smoking Gun.” In it, she made one request of Rice: please stop lying.

Breitweiser, who used the “Iron Man” documents from the Asymmetrical Threats Division of Joint Forces Intelligence Command (JFIC), laid out to Rice the details of the real “smoking gun” that should put the entire Bush administration behind bars. A portion that Brietweiser used to make her case against Condi and the rest of the Bush Administration being a bunch of blatant liars is below:

The first version of the briefing was entitled “The WMD Threat to the u.s.”, {information cut off date 16 July 2000) the briefing slides emphasized that NYC was the most difficult consequence management problem and recommended using NYC as the model for planning/exercises. The oral briefing itself was much more sensitive, indicating that the World Trade Centers #1 and #2 were the most likely buildings to be attacked in the U.S., followed closely by the Pentagon. The briefer indicated that the worst case scenario would be one Tower collapsed onto the other. The possibility of striking the buildings with a plane may have been discussed then — it was certainly discussed in the Red Cell Analysis leading up to the briefing period. The acting Deputy of DO5 (name redacted), proposed in the Red Cell Analysis that the building could be struck by a jetliner. Discussion followed on contacting World Trade Center security and engineering/architectural staff, but the idea was not further explored because of a command climate discouraging contact with the civilian community. The widow and activist wraps up with a friendly reminder to Rice: “So please Ms. Rice — with all due respect — stand down and stop spouting lies…Because neither you nor President Bush nor DCI George Tenet, nor Vice President Dick Cheney, nor Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, nor FBI Director Robert Mueller, stopped these terrorists from killing 3,000 people.”

The last words of the op-ed ring as true today as they did September 11, 2001:

We’ll see what Condi has to say about this.
