A Marine’s Response To The Anti-Syrian Refugee Noise Is Truly Worth Reading (SCREENSHOTS)

The deadly and horrific terror attacks in Paris have presented us with two very different ways in which to respond. One of the responses is to attack people’s most primal emotions and cynically exploit their paranoia and limited understanding of the world. We shall call that the Fox News response. Then, of course, there’s the more complicated response: feelings of anger and frustration, but coupled with reason and understanding. This is what we shall call the human response.

When it comes to the delicate matter of accepting Syrian refugees, the very people desperately fleeing the ISIS monsters, Fox News has been producing bullsh*t at the rate of bulls.

Considering the revelation that at least one of the Paris terrorists who killed more than 120 people had a Syrian passport, it’s perfectly reasonable to show caution and careful examination with regards to accepting Syrian refugees. But given the plethora of Republican senators’ and governors’ collective rejection of Syrian refugees, it looks like nothing more than shameless pandering and a pathetic attempt to appear “tough.”

Enter former Marine Phil Klay

Phil Klay honorably served with the U.S. Marines in Iraq during the tumultuous  2007 and 2008 surge. After serving his tour, he wrote Redeployment, which won the National Book Award for fiction in 2014. But it was a series of tweets that Phil wrote that all Americans MUST read (myself included).
