‘You Have Failed’: People Outraged Over Trump’s Weak Statement On His Nazi Supporters’ Violent Protest

Trump-supporting Nazis marched through the streets of Charlottesville, Virginia chanting “blood and soil”– a phrase from Adolf Hitler’s Germany, while giving Nazi salutes, shouting gay slurs and racist rhetoric. It was a protest so appalling and violent that Virginia’s governor had to declare a state of emergency.

Republicans are finally stepping up to condemn their own base for the ugly spectacle America is witnessing. Reminder: Every white supremacist group across the board backed Donald Trump’s campaign so this shouldn’t shock the GOP, or the former reality show star. Instead of addressing the violence on TV, Trump tweeted about it. And it’s a weakly-worded tweet, not once calling out the white supremacists at the protest. All we got was 140 characters or less after his violent supporters besieged Charlottesville.

The amateur president tweeted “We ALL must be united & condemn all that hate stands for. There is no place for this kind of violence in America. Lets come together as one!”

Twitter users reminded Trump of a few things.

We are all appalled at the spectacle which is still playing out in Charlottesville. Trump’s tweet should have been a message delivered during his campaign, but instead, he emboldened these meth-gobbling racists. He built that. He sent out a tweet after Virginia was forced to declare a state of emergency because Trump-loving Nazis went off the rails and he wants ‘unity’? We will never unify behind Nazis, thankyouverymuch.
