Actor Johnny Depp apologized for a joke in which he made a thinly veiled allusion killing of Donald Trump. Depp told a crowd at the Glastonbury arts festival in England, “When was the last time an actor assassinated a president?” Depp’s remark was apparently referring to the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln by John Wilkes Booth more than 150 years ago. Depp apologized for the “bad joke” and said it was done “in poor taste.”
You know who hasn’t apologized? Ted Nugent or former Trump adviser Al Baldasaro. Both of those gentlemen have been invited to the White House by Trump. Nugent has threatened former President Barack Obama and Baldasaro has said that Hillary Clinton should be shot. There are others, too, but they have not been extended an invitation to the White House yet.
Donald Trump Jr. is trying to get Depp fired.
“I’d think it would be hard for @Disney to keep him, let’s see: #FireDepp Goes VIRAL after ‘Trump Assassination’ Joke,” the so-called president’s son tweeted to his 1.7 million followers.

Junior’s tweet has been liked over 12,000 times and retweeted more than 6,000 times so far. Many of his followers say they are making calls to Disney to get the actor fired. Kathy Griffin was fired from a gig with CNN over her tasteless joke in which she’s holding a mask, seemingly showing a decapitated Donald Trump. Following Griffin’s stunt, a pro-Trump convenience store offered 50,000 for Griffin’s head but that doesn’t seem to bother conservatives.
Junior’s tweet didn’t go down well with everyone, though.

Trump called Nugent’s threats a ‘figure of speech’ then blamed Obama for being threatened.

I’m more concerned about having traitors and money launderers in the White House.

While it’s all fun and games when conservatives make death threats, they don’t hold the same standard when left-leaning figures threaten one of theirs. To be clear, it’s in poor taste no matter who does it, but we’re just calling out the glaring hypocrisy in Junior’s call to have an actor fired. When Griffin pulled that now infamous stunt, Chelsea Clinton called her out on it. Junior has never called anyone out for threatening Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton. Junior’s father never apologized for suggesting that ‘Second Amendment people’ take care of Clinton.
