Trump Desperately Resurrects Katrina Pierson To Push ‘Collusion Is Not A Crime’ Narrative

Remember Katrina Pierson? If you don’t, that’s OK. It’s been a while since you’ve last seen her. But apparently the Trump administration is getting desperate because they have released her from her stasis pod to once again lie on behalf of The Donald.

Pierson appeared on Fox News Sunday not to push the narrative that “collusion” with an enemy power “is not a crime.”

That’s right. We’re there. A grand jury has been impaneled, subpoenas have been issued, and it’s clear at this point that criminal charges are probably coming — so the administration and Fox News are now  in “so what?” mode.

“This has nothing to do with Russia,” the almost forgotten relic from the Trump campaign told Fox. “They’re just now looking for something.”

“There has been no evidence found,” Pierson lied. “Even Democrats are saying we have no evidence. Collusion is not a crime. So what exactly are we looking for here?”

She’s correct that “collusion” — the shorthand people typically use for things like “conspiring to violate the election laws of the United States” and “wire fraud.”

Fox News has been desperately pushing the “collusion isn’t a crime” narrative since June — and Richard Nixon’s White House counsel, John W. Dean, has been happy enough in the past to explain why it is:

It was the fake legal analysis by Fox News in June—claiming that “collusion” with a foreign government violated no law—that prompted me to look. Surely Fox knows it fooled only fools. Collusion is the descriptive word the news media has settled on to cover many potential illegal actions by the Trump campaign, which could range from aiding and abetting (18 USC 2) to conspiracy per se (18 USC 371) to conspiring to violate several potentially applicable laws like: 18 USC 1030—fraud and related activity in connection with computers; 18 USC 1343—wire fraud; or 52 USC 30121—contributions and donations by foreign nationals. Also, 18 USC 2381—for, contrary to a widespread belief that there must be a declared war, the Justice Department as recently as 2006 indicted for “aid and comfort” to our enemies, the form of collusion better known as treason. Collusion is the perfect word to cover such crimes, pejorative and inclusive.

Pierson says the whole Russia thing is a “fabricated story because look at where its origins came from.” According to the resurrected Trump lackey, no allegations matter because “this is a story and a narrative and an investigation based upon an allegation from the losing team.”

Most of the allegations, she says, are from “unnamed sources which in time turn out to be fake news, which is exactly why that hashtag exists.”

In reality this investigation began long before the election even happened, numerous sources have been named (though an anonymous source does not in any way automatically mean the information is false), the hashtag actually exists because Trump has tweeted it incessantly, and Pierson is still an idiot.
