Trump Breaks His Number One Campaign Promise; Just Lost Americans Tens Of Thousands Of Jobs

Donald Trump is a repeat offender when it comes to breaking promises he’s made to America. However, this time it’s really going to hit the nation where it hurts. And that’s jobs.

During the President’s campaign, he promised to help bring in more jobs. Even his supporters touted that he would be good for the economy. In June he stressed that infrastructure would be his sole focus, even dedicating a whole week to it.

In a press meeting in February, Trump announced that infrastructure in America will be a priority over defense spending. Saying,

“We spend $6 trillion in the Middle East and we have potholes all over our highways and our roads … so we’re going to take care of that. Infrastructure — we’re going to start spending on infrastructure big. Not like we have a choice. It’s not like, oh gee, let’s hold it off.”

In his first month in office, Hudson County View reported that Trump would be making the Hudson River project his top priority. Even putting up $24 billion for it. Which means economic growth and good paying jobs.

Well, now that project, known as the Gateway project, is being no longer being put on the back burner, it’s now obsolete. According to the New York Daily News, The Trump administration has pulled out of a group overseeing a $24 billion transportation project meant to increase train capacity between New York and New Jersey.

That zeal Trump presented to better the nation’s infrastructure and present more good paying jobs… where did it go? Even the message that was sent to the Department of Transportation informing them of the drop out was pretty cowardly. The chairman of Gateway’s board of trustees said,

“It is not DOT’s standard practice to serve in such a capacity on other local transportation projects.”

Really, then why was the option even presented as a priority. The anticipation and excitement were all just to gas up America only to let them down. The benefits of this project were endless. NY Daily News also reported that, the existing underwater tunnel is more than a century old and it took a beating from Hurricane Sandy. A new tunnel would let crews repair the old tube, a source of chronic delays and equipment malfunctions.

These infrastructure projects would bring in over 40,000 jobs and now thousands will be without an opportunity to better themselves because Trump lies.
