Seth Meyers Says What We’re ALL Thinking After Lester Holt Interview: ‘America Is In Deep Sh*t!’

Since Trump fired Comey this past Tuesday, the White House has been in utter chaos trying to keep up with Trump’s deranged behavior and inability to stick to one lie at a time. He created the perfect alibi for himself, blaming Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein for the recommendation to dismiss Comey, but somehow — he couldn’t just leave well enough alone, and in an interview with Lester Holt on Thursday, he let the cat out of the bag — it was HIS idea to fire Comey, not Rosenstein’s.

Thursday night, Seth Meyers took “A Closer Look” at the situation and came up with a perfect explanation for Trump’s erratic and contradictory behavior:

Trump’s ego is so huge, that he can’t even let someone else have the spotlight in his own alibi! He’s like a Scooby Doo villian, ‘That’s right it was ME! I was the ghost in the amusement park!’”

Meyers didn’t let press Secretary Sean Spicer off easy either. Earlier in the segment, Seth brought up the Washington Post article, written shortly after the Comey news broke, where it described Spicer trying to avoid cameras. The Post reported that Spicer “spent several minutes hidden in the bushes” but after someone in the White House complained about their description of Spicer’s actions, a correction was made to the article:

This story has been updated to more precisely describe White House press secretary Sean Spicer’s location late Tuesday night. Spicer huddled with his staff among bushes near television sets on the White House grounds, not ‘in the bushes.’”

Meyers points out the hilarity of this correction:

‘I was not IN the bushes, I was merely AMONG the bushes. You know, like they accepted me as one of their own.’”

“And when the White House is clarifying the press secretary’s position in relation to bushes, it’s important to remember: America is both among and IN deep shit!”
