Senate Staffers Just Revealed How The Trump Investigation Is Being Sabotaged From The Inside

Three individuals with ties to the Senate Intelligence Committee’s official investigation of Trump and Russia have just revealed new information that admits its all a scam.

Republicans in control of the committee are not even investigating Trump currently, despite saying publicly that they would get to the bottom of it.

Here’s what we know so far:

  1. The investigation doesn’t have any full-time staff.
  2. Most of the people assigned have no background in Russia matters.
  3. There’s not one investigator assigned to it.
  4. No interviews have been conducted with key officials in nearly three months.

How can this be?

“It’s either a real investigation or not,” said one individual with knowledge of the committee’s activities. “You have to have an approved investigative guide. You have to make it formal. Can you have a credible investigation with only seven part-time staffers, doing everything in secret?”

The truth is, the investigation is being held up for a number of reasons, despite this, and could take years to finish at this pace. It even has limited funding.

Up to this point, all the committee has done is sent out letters requesting information. That’s it. It’s not a real investigation according to attorney Scott Horton who has expertise in these types of matters.

“I don’t see how you can do this without trained investigators and prosecutors. I think you need to have expertise on the intel side and on the prosecution side. You would ideally need someone who knows how to do a counterintelligence operation,” Horton said.

“To do a serious investigation would require not less than a dozen full-time staffers… [with] counterintelligence, prosecutorial skills to do it, and people who have a very good sense of the forensic accounting world of Russia and Europe. Without that sort of expertise, you’re not going to get anywhere. I don’t think they’re deploying the resources that are necessary to do a real investigation.”

Senator Ron Wyden, a member of the committee, even had to send a letter to heads of the committee asking them to do their jobs. He didn’t see any current action being done that was serious at looking into the financial ties between Russia, President Trump, or anyone close to him.

Richard Burr, the chairman of the committee, said in a public update recently that was their core mission: “to look at any campaign contacts from either [campaign] with the Russian government or Russian government officials that might have influenced, in any way, shape, or form, the election process.”

But, how will they complete this mission, if they don’t have the adequate staff to undertake it? That’s the scam. And – the public needs to know about it.
