It seems that Trump’s new communications director, Anthony Scaramucci, is even more obsessed with stopping White House leaks than his boss is. It’s actually gotten considerably ridiculous: Last night he threw a livid fit on Twitter about his financial disclosure getting published, calling it a felony when such disclosures are a matter of public record. Now, he’s apparently in a position where he has to vent to someone, and he made the mistake of doing so to a reporter without claiming off-the-record status first so we get to read all about it.
To start, he pressured The New Yorker’s Ryan Lizza to reveal which source in the White House had “leaked” news of a dinner he had with Trump last night. Really? Does Scaramucci think everything is going to be a secret until the administration decides otherwise? Probably.
Lizza didn’t actually reveal his source despite Scaramucci’s pressure, so he moved on to something else: Threatening the leakers themselves.
What I want to do is I want to fucking kill all the leakers and I want to get the President’s agenda on track so we can succeed for the American people.”
We all say, “I want to kill so-and-so,” and variations thereof. All the time. This is more significant than that, though, and not just because he’s a White House senior staffer who should know better than to run his mouth off like that. It’s also because Trump is too unstable for office and Scaramucci’s extreme loyalty to Trump is making it so these leaks enrage him. That makes him potentially dangerous, especially when you consider that he’s also become paranoid about it, tweeting and then deleting this:
In light of the leak of my financial info which is a felony. I will be contacting @FBI and the @TheJusticeDept #swamp @Reince45.”
But Twitter wasn’t the only place where Scaramucci implied that he thought Priebus was actively working against him. He also told Lizza that he believed Priebus had leaked his financial disclosure, and that “they” were trying to resist him, but it wasn’t going to work. “They” were going to have to go eff themselves, according to Lizza’s story.
Scaramucci claims he’s a straight shooter, but he blatantly lied about why he targeted Priebus. He’s on Twitter talking about how he wants to get past all the nonsense so Trump can work on “making America great again.” He’s enraged. He worships Trump. He’s exactly who Trump wants on his staff.
