Today, thousands of students all over America marched in protest of gun violence and to pay their respects to the 17 lives that were lost in the mass shooting in Parkland, Florida last month.
As the president, the National Rifle Association and the GOP have pretty much ignored the cries from America’s youth for more action toward gun safety, teens have organized and taken action to send a strong message to Congress today. Unfortunately, the NRA also responded with a strong statement about gun violence, and it is worse than you could even imagine.
On Twitter, the NRA sent out a tweet that said, “I’ll control my own guns, thank you.”
The organization has also issued a statement via video, in which an NRA spokesman explained why passing gun control laws is useless, even though America continues to suffer more mass shootings than anywhere else in the world – a direct correlation with its relaxed gun policies. The NRA spokesperson said:
“Passing new gun control laws won’t protect our kids because criminals willing to commit murder never obey the law.”
Let’s work together to secure our schools and stop school violence. We protect our banks, our sports stadiums and our government buildings better than we protect our schools. That must change. #StopSchoolViolenceAct #DefendTheSecond #NRA pic.twitter.com/98dWIv0giM

The NRA’s response to students begging Congress to make schools safer has been disgusting from the start, having bought Donald Trump’s loyalty and making the president propose a policy that would sell even more guns to arm teachers in schools in a fake effort to increase “safety.”
Disappointed by the adults that are supposed to be protecting them, children across the United States are taking action with their protests – but the NRA is doing everything it can to shut them up. This was the most disgusting ways the NRA could have responded to such a meaningful movement, and it shows the true colors of this heartless organization.
