Mom’s Post About Her Sick Son Goes Viral As Trumpcare Looms In The Senate

Ali is the mother of two small children. For some people, that’s the most important thing about themselves: Being a parent. But when you’re like Ali, and one of your kids is born sick, you become more than a parent. You become hope. You become love. Every good quality your own parents tried to nurture in you growing up comes to the surface, and you become a hero. At least that’s what’s supposed to happen. That’s what happened when Ali’s son was born a little over three years ago with half a heart.

But her son Ethan’s heart was too small from birth. We can’t help but wonder what happened to the hearts of Republicans trying to pass Trumpcare because they’ve become so small they’re impossible to see. With good reason, Trumpcare terrifies Ali. Like Obamacare, the American Health Care Act currently being rushed through the Senate is not insurance. It’s not government-provided health care. It’s a set of rules — but unlike Obamacare, the rules of the new plan don’t benefit the sick and needy. They benefit the already rich, and nobody else.

So Ali did what she knows. She took to Twitter with her story, in hopes it might change some of those Republican hearts. That thread has now been retweeted over 17,000 times. See why for yourself:

Then Ali brings it back home.

Even if you don’t use Twitter, you can share Ali’s story here. Help her reach into the hearts of America, to show them what we’re all so scared of. This could just as easily be your child or mine.
