In an effort to come up with ways to demonize the Affordable Care Act and push the GOP’s dangerous and horrible tax cut for the rich thinly disguised as a replacement, Indiana’s GOP blundered hard. Hard.
On Monday, the Indiana Republican Party posed a few questions designed to find names and faces to feed into their party line propaganda. Instead, they found heartache. “Did you lose a doctor that you liked? Have your premiums increased? Did your insurer leave the exchange? Are burdensome regulations hurting your small business?” the post asks, even telling people how they are supposed to answer. “We were promised Obamacare would make healthcare cheaper, better, and more available, but in reality it’s turned out to be the opposite.”
“What’s your Obamacare horror story? Let us know,” they asked, which turned out to be a huge mistake.
One by one, Americans stopped by to share their Obamacare stories as requested, but reality doesn’t match the narrative the GOP wishes to push.
“The ACA saved me, actually. My family would’ve been devastated without it,” one woman wrote. “Thank God for Obamacare!!!!!!!: another wrote. “I can breathe thanks to ACA. Thanks inhalers, steroids and nebulizer treatment!” another person added. Here is just a small sampling of the flood of “horror stories” Mike Pence’s home state GOP received:
Gee, doesn’t that all sound so horrible? It’s great to see random people from all walks of life come together to tell the GOP where they can shove their mean-spirited deathcare bill.
