If there’s one thing that Donald Trump can’t stand, it’s being criticized by or compared to his predecessors. We’ve seen Trump have meltdown after meltdown anytime someone mentions how much former President Barack Obama is missed or how much better a leader Obama was. And on the rare occasion that Obama would take a subtle dig at Trump, it always sent Trump into a Twitter rage.
Unfortunately for Trump, there’s a lot to criticize. From his vile personality to disastrous leadership, there’s no shortage of things to complain about or tear apart — and another former Commander in Chief just did it on national television. Last night on Stephen Colbert’s “The Late Show,” former POTUS Jimmy Carter took several shots at Trump, signaling that it truly pains him to watch this moron destroy America.
When Colbert asked Carter if America does “want a jerk as president,” Carter held nothing back. He said:
“Apparently, from this recent election, yes. I never knew it before.”
And the jabs kept coming. Colbert also asked Carter what he thought were the most important qualities needed in a President, and Carter called out Trump’s dishonesty when he said this:
“I used to think it was to tell the truth. But I’ve changed my mind lately.”
Despite disagreeing with pretty much everything Trump has done so far, Carter still tried to extend kindness to the failing President. As he was on Colbert’s show to promote his new book “Faith: A Journey For All,” Carter said he prayed that Trump would eventually get his sh*t together:
“I pray that he’ll be a good president and that he’ll keep our country at peace and that he’ll refrain from using nuclear weapons and that he will promote human rights. So yeah, I pray for him.”
