Donald Trump said on Wednesday that he was unaware of the meeting between his eldest son Trump Jr, and Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya.
In an exclusive interview with Reuters, Trump gives his statement:
Asked if he knew that his son was meeting with the Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya in June last year, Trump said in a White House interview: “No, that I didn’t know until a couple of days ago when I heard about this.”
Trump Jr. eagerly agreed to meet the woman he was told was a Russian government lawyer who might have damaging information about Democratic rival Hillary Clinton as part of Moscow’s official support for his father’s presidential election campaign, according to emails the son released on Tuesday.
In the interview, Trump said he did not fault his son for holding the meeting. “I think many people would have held that meeting,” the president said.
In addition, Trump is receiving regular briefings from Jared Kushner about his meeting with special prosecutor Robert Mueller as reported by Axios.
Trump expects us to believe that a micromanager like himself who constantly obsesses over receiving updates on everything/anything related to Russia knew nothing about the meeting regarding a Russian representative and his own son.
Trump Jr’s emails is more than enough evidence to get Trump impeached, but if the traitor-in-chief did indeed know about the meeting his faith will be determined accordingly. Based on his track record, there is a good chance that Trump is lying—which will easily get him booted out of the White House. For America’s sake, that would be an ideal outcome.
