In “Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House,” an explosive new book by Michael Wolff, he examined the reactions of Donald Trump and his family during the election night of 2016’s presidential contest. Wolff also chronicled what just may be the most disturbing reaction by a future first lady upon learning the outcome of her husband’s election.
According to excerpts published in New York magazine.Wolff is said to have spoken to multiple sources involved in Trump’s campaign and discovered how all of the candidates moral and ethical failings were brushed off, mainly because no one thought he had any chance of winning.
“Shortly after 8 p.m. on Election Night, when the unexpected trend — Trump might actually win — seemed confirmed, Don Jr. told a friend that his father, or DJT, as he calls him, looked as if he had seen a ghost,” Wolff reported. “Melania was in tears —and not of joy.”
The book also claims that Trump was hoping to parlay his loss to former Secretary Hillary Clinton into a new career as a political celebrity while expecting his children to become “international celebrities” in their own right.
However, that all changed after a few thousand votes in crucial swing states unexpectedly made him the next U.S. president.
“There was, in the space of little more than an hour, in Steve Bannon’s not unamused observation, a befuddled Trump morphing into a disbelieving Trump and then into a horrified Trump,” Wolff wrote. “But still to come was the final transformation: Suddenly, Donald Trump became a man who believed that he deserved to be, and was wholly capable of being, the president of the United States.”
A longtime friend of Trump told Vanity Fair that Melania was dead set against becoming the first lady “come hell or high water.”
“This isn’t something she wanted and it isn’t something [Donald Trump] ever thought he’d win. She didn’t want this come hell or high water,” the friend told the magazine in a new report published Sunday. “I don’t think she thought it was going to happen.”
And of course, according to multiple sources like Stephanie Cegielski who was the former communications director of the Make America Great Again super PAC, no one was as shocked and unsettled by the election results as Donald Trump. Cegielski stated:
“Even Trump’s most trusted advisors didn’t expect him to fare this well”
She then went into further detail, explaining his motivations for running in the first place.
“I’ll say it again: Trump never intended to be the candidate. But his pride is too out of control to stop him now,” she wrote.
“He doesn’t want the White House. He just wants to be able to say that he could have run the White House. He’s achieved that already and then some. If there is any question, take it from someone who was recruited to help the candidate succeed, and initially very much wanted him to do so.
“The hard truth is: Trump only cares about Trump.”
She continued: “I consider myself a part of the silent majority that led to Trump’s rise, which is why I want you to know that I am with you — I wanted Trump to be real, too.
We all feel Melania’s pain, and now we may have a good idea as to the identity of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s biggest fan in the White House. And judging from multiple reports, that’s a very competitive contest.
