Trump Demands We Continue Illegally Imprisoning People At Gitmo And Gets DESTROYED

Donald Trump posted yet another tweet on Tuesday, this time demanding that we continue imprisoning people in Guantanamo Bay.

It’s unconstitutional but Trump wants to keep detainee in indefinite detention anyway despite the fact that the Supreme Court has ruled that denying those imprisoned at Gitmo habeas corpus violates their rights.

The Bush Administration imprisoned nearly 1,000 so-called “enemy combatants” at the notorious facility even though they were never given a trial, reasonable access to a defense attorney and often were denied being shown evidence of why they were arrested.

Our legal system demands that any person be given a fair trial and a proper defense. They are also supposed to be guaranteed the right to see or hear the evidence against them in a court of law. In other words, we can’t just put someone in prison without proving they did something wrong.

Over the years, efforts have been made to close the prison and transfer or release the remaining inmates. But Republicans opposed these efforts and now Donald Trump wants to keep the prison open and has suggested once again allowing the use of torture within the facility.

But the government has yet to prove that many of these inmates are, in fact, “dangerous” like Trump claims. And many have been found to be totally innocent.

Keeping the prison open is inhumane and unconstitutional because we are depriving hundreds of people of their human rights.

And Twitter users who actually respect the Constitution and Bill of Rights were quick to tear Trump apart.

Donald Trump is the true threat to our Constitution and democratic values. He doesn’t give a damn about our rights and will trample all over them once he gets the chance. We cannot allow this country to become a dictatorship.
