Kirk Cameron Torn To Shreds On Twitter After Telling Wives To Shut Up And Submit To Husbands

It may come as news to former child star turned Christian fundamentalist Kirk Cameron that women do, in fact, form their own thoughts and opinions, because clearly he still hasn’t gotten the memo.

In a recent interview Cameron did for the Christian Post, he decided to reiterate his beliefs that women should be submissive to their husbands.

Cameron said:

A lot of people don’t know that marriage comes with instructions. And, we find them right there in God’s word.

Adding that husbands should “love their wives and not to tell their wives that they need to submit to them.” Which sounds better until he contradicts himself by adding:

Wives are to honor and respect and follow their husband’s lead, not to tell their husband how he ought to be a better husband. When each person gets their part right, regardless of how their spouse is treating them, there is hope for real change in their marriage.

So, according to Cameron, women need to shut up and submit to their husbands, no matter how they’re being treated.

Well, as you can only imagine, those of us in the year 2016 who respect and honor a woman’s right to have their own say in her life, didn’t take too kindly to Cameron’s opinion on marriage roles.

Enter Twitter and social media, where he got absolutely torn to shreds.

Here are just a few of the replies to his words:

And keeping it simple:

Let’s be real here, you can use the Bible as a religious text, but seeing as it was written in a time that had zero respect for women, that clearly comes through in the archaic text. Not understanding that in the modern age women should be treated as equal companions in life is a sign that Cameron can’t grasp new ideas and probably shouldn’t be telling anyone what to do… ever.

Maybe if Cameron started letting his wife take the lead and make some decisions for him, he’d finally stop being such a misogynistic jerk. Maybe.
